Causes Of Shoulder Pain


The shoulder is a ball and socket joint. This mobile joint tends to be more susceptible to injury. 

The causes of shoulder pain are listed below :

Dislocation


Dislocation is happen when the ball is come out from the ball and socket joint of the shoulder due to the fast movement of shoulder. In the dislocation treatment, doctors push the ball of the upper arm back to the socket. It has chance to happen again once dislocation happened. If any injuries happen due to the the dislocation, surgery is needed.

Separation


Shoulder separation is happen when the ligaments are torn. The injury is most often caused by a blow to the shoulder or by falling on an outstretched hand.

Treatments are: 

  • Rest
  • A sling to keep shoulder in place
  • Ice to relieve pain and swelling
  • Exercise, after rest
  • Surgery if tears are severe

Rotator Cuff Tear


Rotator cuff tendons are inflamed due to frequent use or aging. Sometimes they are injured from a fall. Sports or jobs with repeated motion can also damage the rotator cuff. Aging causes tendons to wear down, which can lead to a tear.

  • Surgery if the tear does not improve with other treatments

Frozen Shoulder


Lack of use due to chronic pain and lack fluid that helps for the proper movement of the shoulder are the some reasons of frozen shoulder.

  • Gentle stretching exercise
  • Electrical stimulation of muscles and nerves
  • Cortisone injection
  • Surgery if the shoulder does not improve with other treatments.
